Lecture/Discussion: "Composition, Control, Context"

This lecture considers the issues of "control" and "context" in music composition through an examination of the compositional processes of two of Andrew Raffo Dewar's works that employ varying degrees of "open form" and a combination of traditional and invented notation. These compositions provide a foundation for discussion of experimental music composition in the 21st century.
